"My only job is to create conditions in which the other person can grow"  --Michael Landau, Feldenkrais practitioner

The benefits of the Feldenkrais Method or Soul Lightening Acupressure unfold over time.  Each session builds on the previous one.  At the beginning, commit to coming 4-6 times, no more than a week apart, in order to experience the profound benefits.

Feldenkrais Method®

"The lessons are designed to improve ability, that is, expand the boundaries of the possible."  -- Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, founder of the Feldenkrais Method

Feldenkrais sessions use gentle movement to bring ease and organization to one's body and movement.  A hands-on lesson, called a Functional Integration® lesson, is fully clothed and done on a low Feldenkrais table or in a chair.  It involves small or medium pleasant movements with precise touch.  These comfortable movements teach the brain and body new options for moving.  Feldenkrais addresses a variety of issues such as back pain, neck pain, hip issues, repetitive stress injury, accidents, movement issues from neurological challenges or aging, chronic pain, and more.  Athletes and dancers use Feldenkrais for improved performance.  Parkinson's and Stroke clients use Feldenkrais for balance, ease, and increased function.  People experience Functional Integration lessons as deeply relaxing and report feeling less tension and pain, greater flow in their movement, and a sense of embodiment.

Feldenkrais is a synthesis of biology, physics, neuroscience, and motor development.  It utilizes the brain's neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to learn, to release habits that create restriction and tension and create new pathways for healthier function.

I have been in Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes since 1997 and am a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner.
For more information please visit feldenkrais.com/functional-integration-fi-sessions/
Feldenkrais Functional Integration sessions can be in person or via Zoom.
It is recommended to schedule Feldenkrais sessions close together when possible, particularly when working with pain or major challenges.  Scheduling a few days apart is more effective than scheduling a week apart.

History of the Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method is named after it's founder, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais.   Moshe Feldenkrais was born in 1904, in what is now the Ukraine.  At the age of 14 he walked from Belarus to Palestine, to escape the violent progroms in his village.  He became a black belt judo master, a close student of Jigaro Kano, the founder of Judo.  He was also an assistant researcher with Frederic Joliot-Curie, at the Radium Institute in Paris.  Suffering severe, debilitating knee pain, Dr. Feldenkrais combined his knowledge of judo and physics to repair his knee movement and developed what evolved into the Feldenkrais Method.  He taught the Feldenkrais Method in group classes, called Awareness Through Movement® lessons, and through one-on-one, hands-on Functional Integration lessons.  In 1957 Dr. Feldenkrais gave extensive Functional Integration lessons to the Israeli Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion.  In the 1950's Dr. Feldenkrais presented his work in Europe and the United States, and brought the professional training program to the United States in the mid-1970's.

Soul Lightening Acupressure

"Our soul...unites body, heart, and mind.  It is not a ghost trapped somehow in the physical machinery of our body, but the very essence of our being"
--Gabrielle Roth

Soul Lightening Acupressure is a fully-clothed style of acupressure using light to medium pressure at specific points along the body's meridians  (lines of energy).  Applying gentle pressure to these points releases restrictions and allows the energy to flow more freely.  Many of the acupressure points in Soul Lightening acupressure are along the extraordinary vessels of Chinese medicine--energy flows that connect to one's purpose and gifts.  Acupressure sessions work with the whole person, body, mind and spirit.  Clients experience sessions as deeply calming and often transformational.

I have been training with Soul Lightening International since 2013.  I am certified in both Soul Lightening's Process Acupressure track and Clinical Acupressure track.

Soul Lightening Acupressure can be in person or via phone or Zoom.

History of Soul Lightening Acupressure
Soul Lightening Acupressure was developed by Aminah Raheem in the 1970's.  It integrates traditional Jin Shin Jyutsu acupressure, Fritz Smith's Zero Balancing, and Arnold Mindell's Process Oriented Psychology.  In 2000, Dr. Raheem founded Soul Lightening International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching this work.

Sounder Sleep System®

"Relax your soul and have a peaceful sleep" --Author unknown

The Sounder Sleep System utilizes your natural breathing and simple, small or medium, repeated movements.  These movements allow you to shift from an alert, awake state to a place of deep physical and mental repose.  During a session the client may be in a chair, lying down, or even standing up.  I teach the client Sounder Sleep movements with slow, verbal guidance, allowing the client to drop deeply into a parasympathetic  (relaxed)  nervous system state.  The client will learn these simple Sounder Sleep movements to practice at home and apply to stress and sleep.

I have been practicing Sounder Sleep System techniques for over 15 years and am a certified Sounder Sleep System instructor.
I offer both Sounder Sleep System courses and one on one Sounder Sleep sessions.

Sounder Sleep can be in person or via Zoom.

History of the Sounder Sleep System
The Sounder Sleep System was developed by Michael Krugman in 1999.  Mr. Krugman was a Feldenkrais practitioner and a lifelong student of modern and traditional healing methods.  He healed his own challenging sleep issues using what he eventually called the Sounder Sleep System.
